For about two years Better Living Aid (formerly Clothing for elderly with Leprosy) has been working with department of social welfare of Tabora region on improving life standard of about 100 Amani villagers who are mainly elderly, disabled and suffering from Leprosy, on that period of time with limited funds from friends in Facebook, we managed to provide Amani villagers with food. used clothes and sweat shirts.

Recently Better Living Aid arranged for fumigation being carried out at Amani village where the residents complained of being troubled by bed bugs, this action was funded by organization members and some two United Republic of Tanzania MP's from Tabora region namely Hon Munde Tambwe (special seat Mp) and Hon Aden Rageh(Tabora town MP) both from ruling party CCM) fumigation fees reached Tsh 980,000. see blog for more details

Future Plans

This year the organization is looking for funding to build more toilets at the village, as they only have two usable toilets with the total number of 70 residents it is a problem especially with those who cannot walk and still use the same toilets.

Also the residents appealed to good samaritans to help them with a small dispensary  at Amani village where some residents are disabled or with severed limbs caused by Leprosy. With false legs they find walking to the Ipuli St Anna dispensary a tough ask, as by walking about 400 to 500 yards to the health facility their limbs generate bowel and wounds something they tend to avoid.

We are also looking at every possibility to get funds to enable us to build a dispensary in Masweya village in Singida region, where 7242 men, women with those carrying pregnancies and kids have to walk 30km to reach Mtunduru village where the dispensary is or ride by bus to Singida town to get treatment.
